"Faith Statements" by our members in regard to our "Here We Grow Again" Gift Appeal
We hope you enjoy reading these! Why not pick one a day?
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
You have in your hands a gift and an opportunity:
A gift of expressions of faith from members who responded to the question, "What does my faith and my church mean to me?"; An opportunity to enter into prayer for one another during the days leading up to Commitment Week, April 26 - 29, 2001, as well as the days that follow.
We are prayed for more often than we will ever know! Let us use this privilege to enter into prayer for one another. In fact, each page of this booklet is arranged as a single outline for prayer. As you go through this booklet:
- Begin with a brief silent reflection of all God's blessings;
- Slowly read (or better yet, pray) through the "Psalm of the Day";
- Read the expressions of faith deliberately and thoughtfully;
- Take a few moments to discover how the life of the writer and your life,
even our life as a congregation, come together before God;
- And offer the prayer.
These are exciting days of decision in our church! We have begun an ambitious venture-a venture of support which our mission deserves. We all have gifts to give. Remembering one another and the whole congregation before God-that is our first gift to each other.

Reading of the Day: Psalm 16
Reading of the Day: Psalm 16
My faith, my belief in Christ Jesus, is my support system, in good times and bad. This faith foundation has brought me through the death of my son, my parents and my own life threatening surgery. It has given me cause to rejoice and be thankful for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon me and my family.
"Here We Grow Again" will give all of us, young and old, at Our Saviour’s yet another chance to fulfill the great commission of sharing the Word of the Lord with all our neighbors here in Green Bay, providing a place for our young people and giving us the space to carry out our many programs.
--Gay Pivonka
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, live in us today in power and wisdom so that we might grow in our faith and share this faith and our gifts with others. Amen
Reading of the Day: Psalm 8
My Church
My mom was in search,
of a church,
In many different ways!
Then her search,
ended with a church,
That let us go on Sundays!
I went to Sunday School,
and it was so cool,
And I learned that Jesus cares!
I know that Jesus loves,
all from above,
From lions to tigers to bears!
By working together,
to make our church better,
Our church will be good I know!
Everybody’s coming,
yellow jackets are humming,
By now our church must grow.
By donating money,
you’ll make our lives sunny,
And make our future bright!
I’m done with my report,
thanks for your support,
It’s time for me to say good night!
--Derek T. VanBoxel, Fifth Grade
PRAYER: Lord, we thank you for the faith and the vision to see your love and glory. May they serve to strengthen us for our everyday tasks. Be with us on the heights and in the valleys. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 111
My faith is the reason to live. God shows His presence in everything that I come in contact with. Without my faith, everything would be disconnected. Sure there are physical connections. For example, family members, co-workers and even church members have physical connections because they share a common environment with each other. However, knowing that God is present with a higher purpose for everyone allows me to see the spiritual connection and makes me excited to do whatever I can to help everyone I come in contact with.
My church is my energizer where I get recharged. The energy comes from God through contact with the ministers and congregation which make up the church. I am especially energized by my participation in worship, Bible studies, fellowship and youth education. The building which houses our church should not impede the flow of energy from God.
This program will make it easier to practice my faith. Other than the sanctuary for worship and the basement for some fellowship events, our building provides a substandard environment to serve the needs of our church. Our building especially lacks smaller private areas conducive for learning. We need an area where an adult can feel at home when participating in a Bible study or preparing for a personal event, such as a wedding or funeral. Our children and teachers face challenges that wouldn’t be present if there were four walls and a door to their classroom (which wouldn’t have to be put up and taken down every week). Our building, other than the sanctuary, presents more of a challenge rather than an attraction to our church.
--Mike Charles
PRAYER: Lord God, use our lives to touch the world with your love. Stir us, by your Spirit, to be a neighbor to those in need, serving them with willing hearts. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 128
My church is a very special place where I go to let go of my sins and learn about God. If we would not have this building, I don’t know where we would do it. I enjoy coming and seeing my friends and sharing the peace of the Lord with all of them.
--Stephanie Falk
I come to learn about God and to be closer to Him and get to know Him better. I think coming to church is fun.
--Jeff Simon
PRAYER: We hear your call to serve and love, O Lord. Help us, we pray, to walk in love. In the power of your love you call us "friends." May we now move fully in your love and touch the lives of others with compassion and acceptance. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 138
Faith means to me that if I were to die tonight I know I would be saved because I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I know that I cannot be saved by my good works, but only through faith in my Lord and Savior.
However, I also know that with faith comes commitment, on my part as a Christian, to spread the word of salvation to the unbelieving. Our new building project will expand the size of our church building, but we ourselves have to take the initiative through our faith to expand the size of our church family by reaching out to others who don’t know Christ.
--Jim Jossie
PRAYER: Dear Lord, we pray for our church, that we and all our fellow members may be filled with the spirit of faith, hope and love. Keep us ever mindful of your presence and your power to help in all that we do. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 142
After many years of being raised in Christian surroundings I have accepted Jesus as my Saviour and put my life in his hands. I feel comfortable in the knowledge that there is a place for me in paradise. I must, however, earn my way by living a Christian life and setting a good example while I live my life on this earth.
I was raised in this church and remember when our Sunday school services were held in a small Quonset hut. There were many happy times, but as the church and community grew, we needed a larger facility. Some years later our facilities were found to be inadequate and we needed more space again. I remember thinking how lucky we were to have space for Sunday school and to hold special events for our youth group. Now as I watch the kids leave for Sunday school I’m happy and yet fearful at the same time. The children are full of energy, but I often feel a bit of fear when I think of the massive numbers of people in a small area in the basement and pray there isn’t any type of emergency. The same fear appears as I count fifty to sixty people sitting in the narthex on Sunday morning. It’s a great feeling that the church is bursting at the seams, but a scary one at the same time.
This church family has become a very important part of my life and it is fun to socialize and talk betweens services. But there isn’t enough available space for this type of socialization. Our young church family needs a place to socialize and enjoy the company of fellow Christians. I feel the church is the solid foundation we need to build and mold our lives around starting at a very young age. This will make the world a better place for all of us. I had this type of foundation, and I would like to see this continue. This is where my heart is and why I feel strongly about making the building project a reality.
--Shelley Williams
PRAYER: Gracious God, fill us with your Holy Spirit, guide us and strengthen us so that we may do your will. Thank you for always watching over us. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 31
This church means a lot to me because I was baptized here, and I have come here all of my life, and if I didn’t have the church I would not be baptized, and then I would not be forgiven for my sins.
--Brianna Beerntaen
This place means a lot to me. I have been going here for about eleven years. I would feel weird without this place.
--Krisin Staszak
PRAYER: Lord God, open my heart to your will. Give me words to comfort and encourage. Give me openness to love, energy to serve, and an unselfish spirit to enable me to share. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 61

My faith |
Is based on God’s promise to all people (Jew or Gentile). God works through so many others to introduce Jesus—but you must reach out and embrace this gift. God loves you then and throughout your Christian walk. Sometimes we stumble, hide and even resist growing, but when we seek, worship, and gain a personal relationship, God does unbelievable things. |

John 3:16 For God so loved the world (all his creation—that includes me) That he gave his only begotten son (Jesus/born of a virgin) That whosoever (that’s me) believes in him (Jesus) shall not perish, but have everlasting life (heaven as my home). The Gospel In a nutshell |
--Pam Boettcher
PRAYER: Dear God, thank you for this caring community. Help us to continue to reach out and expand it to the glory of your name. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 5
We had an assignment for church to write about what the church and our faith mean to us. I like to think that I have a close relationship with God, but I can’t honestly say that. I go to church regularly, attend confirmation, so you may think, "Well, if she does all those things, she must be very religious." But the truth is, I’m not. I have opened my heart to Jesus, but not all the way. I have welcomed Him into my life, but only so far. I know about the Lord’s Supper, the Apostles Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and how He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, on the third day rose again and ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God. But I also know that if you know these things, if you acknowledge them, then it’s good. But if you take the knowledge of these things, and you say "Wow! This is really cool! I want to find out more about this God guy, and I want to let him into my life, my heart," that’s when it’s really good. That’s when you can say, "Yes, I believe in Jesus, I have a close relationship with my God." And I can’t say that I have that. My faith means a lot to me, and I hope that I never lose that faith. But I also know that I can improve the quality of my faith, and my religion. That is what keeps me from saying, "Yes. I have a close relationship with my God." I was at a cabaret one night (a cabaret is a show choir performance), and my sister’s name was accidentally left out of the program. A lady introducing the show choir mentioned it. She said, "Oh yeah! I met that Megan girl! She is so cool! I mean we’re like this!" And she crossed her fingers and held them up excitedly. I wish I could have that with God. That I could say, "Oh yeah! I know him! We’re like this!" And I too could hold up my fingers and cross them. But I can’t.
The second thing we were asked to write about was our church. I think our church is a wonderful place, with great pastors. At confirmation one night, after the shootings in California, one of our pastors told us that if we ever were so mad at someone that we could just kill them, we should immediately go and talk to one of the pastors about it. I think that it’s really neat that we have such an understanding community in our church. I think the church is in a way like the spell check on a computer. You make mistakes, and it’s there to help you correct them. Well, that’s what the church is about. If you ever make mistakes, or just need to talk to someone, then you can talk to almost anyone in the church about it. They will always be there. That’s what I think about our church, and I like it because you can always count on someone to be there, and they are always helpful. That’s really all I have to say, other than thank you for taking the time to read my Faith Statement, and I hope you enjoyed it.
--Caitlin Segriff
PRAYER: O God, our maker and redeemer, you have made us a fellowship of believers who bear witness to the Gospel. Enable us to be faithful to our calling to make known your promises to all the world; through your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 86
Having moved to Green Bay seven years ago, one of our first priorities was to find a church. We knew it would not be an easy task, since the church we were members at was such a great fit and one we really enjoyed. After visiting every LCMS church in Green Bay we visited Our Saviour, immediately we knew this is where we were going. We have always felt comfortable here since.
While there are members who have been here for years, we feel like we have been in on the ground floor. Adding a Praise Service came shortly after we joined. Both my wife and myself have been asked to contribute on different programs and committees, doing so has brought us closer to the involvement and operation of how a church interwinds with the community.
Progression is really what the Faith statement is…your faith brings you to church, Our Saviour has continued to expand membership by progressing to provide the Word so it touches and enriches all members. "Growing Again" is the next logical step of progression.
I really don’t look at the Steering Committee as a project, but as what’s next on the list! I believe everyone has something to offer, while I am not exactly sure myself sometimes, I do believe His Progress will show the way.
--Steven Bretzman
PRAYER: Lord, show us your will, and give us the courage to stay in your will for our church. Give us strength to ask those who can give. Encourage our faithfulness and involvement in your work. Together we can move mountains and know your love and forgiveness. Be with us today as we serve you in this place and time and for your glory. In Jesus name. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 13
I’m very lucky that I have this church because it is very fun. They have a very cool praise band. I think it will also be very fun when they add on because it will have a cool gym. We will also have our own classroom. The church will even be more fun then. I think everyone should come to this church.
--Sarah Luberda
PRAYER: Gracious Lord, we thank you for the church and all that it means to us. May your house be a house of blessing to all who enter as they experience your love in and through your people. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 119
Thank you, God, for Our Saviour Lutheran Church
This church is always open
To worship and to pray
And give us faith and guidance
To face each newborn day
Within this Holy House of God
We’ll find our strength anew
And inner peace will find its way
In mind and soul of you
Amidst its walls of silence
We’ll find God always near
To help us face each problem
And fill our hearts with cheer
--Dolores De Greef
PRAYER: We praise and thank you, dear Lord, for the assurance that you watch over us always. Keep us secure from harm, and help us to be faithful to you in all that we do. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 85
When I was young, my faith was a very private, personal idea between me and my Lord. As I grew as a Christian I realized your faith in God is what you want to spread to the world—why God lived, why he died, what he is always teaching. Your faith is who you are.
My church is my family in God’s house. If I need help in any way I know that someone will help. If I stray I feel my church family will pray and help me get back on track. I was on the last appeal and we did so well and needed the areas; now it is time again. We as a church are growing and need more room to grow for worship space and social areas.
--Donna Arthur
PRAYER: Dear God, we ask for your faithful guidance as we serve others in our midst. Help our church to reach out to those in need, that we might show them your love through our actions and acceptance. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 25
I had God with me when my dad brought my dog to the vet and got her put to sleep and my dad made a box for her and we buried her in my back yard.
--Aaron Behnke
When I was three, I had God with me when I had surgery on my head. I was very scared, but I didn’t have to be very scared, because God was with me.
--Ethan K.
God was with me when my grandmother and grandfather had cancer. And when my dog died. It was very sad.
--Amber Curtis
PRAYER: We give you thanks, dear Lord, for the blessings of our church. We thank you for the love and warmth we feel. Make us open to sharing your love with others so that all may feel welcomed in your house and give thanks to Him, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 66
My faith in God means everything to me because through Him I’ll have eternal life in heaven. My faith in God gives my life on earth meaning.
The church is the physical vehicle that me and my family use to strengthen our faith. It gives us fellowship with other Christians, and we grow in learning more about God.
This program is an opportunity to expand the physical size of Our Saviour Lutheran Church to accommodate current growth. That will give the church a better ability to reach out to the community and spread the Word of God.
--Todd Korth
PRAYER: Our strong and faithful God, you truly are our cornerstone. We humbly ask your help as we seek to strengthen the anchor points of our faith. Through Christ our Savior. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 91
Did He not leave the ninety-nine and go out and look for the one?
If we don’t act now, then Christians of the future may have to re-act. We as a family of God need to promote Christian life. I encourage myself and everyone to do whatever we can that God’s glory and grace may be given to all people on earth.
Let us make room for others to join us.
--Don Schultz
PRAYER: Lord, as we gather in your church in fellowship with others, let us always praise and thank you for the blessings we receive daily, and help us to be generous in our giving, sharing and forgiveness. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 112
Dear God,
Over the last two years I have met so many new friends in church. My experiences here are ones I will always remember. I have learned so many new things about you, God, and all the awesome things you have done for me. This has brought me closer to you and made my faith so much stronger.
Even though I have never been a part of any other church before, I feel this church has given me so much more than I could ever imagine. Thank you, God, for being in my life.
--Salena Helebrant
PRAYER: O God, through your Holy Spirit, guide and direct our lives so that we can be a beacon of light to those in need of a strengthened spirit. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 62
"…With God all things are possible." (Matthew 19:26)
Over the past twenty-eight years as a pastor to Our Saviour congregation, I have learned in many ways that, truly, nothing is impossible for our Lord. Think about it! Just the impossibility of our Lord bringing back the rebellious human race to His loving presence and grace—how could He do that? He did the impossible: He took on humanness; lived a perfect life; died an innocent death as payment for the penalty of our sins; rose to prove it all true; and then promised to return in total victory for us all. That deed is what creates a new kind of life and living in each of us. See! The most impossible task He makes possible for us. In that faith I have grown in these many years.
It was just a little over fifteen years ago that many of us were in a voters’ meeting that passed on "Faith Forward," our first expansion project that cost about $350,000. I remember walking out of the church that night and saying to myself, "How will we ever do this? Impossible!" But Our Saviour congregation finished and paid for that project in record time! See! I learned that nothing is impossible for the Lord and His faithful and committed people.
So here I am again at the beginning of another great spiritual adventure with the Lord and the Lord’s people. This time there is a difference. I believe that I have grown in the gifts of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience. (Galatians 5). I do believe that Our Saviour congregation has also grown in these gifts for not only I, but many, have seen that with the Lord and the power of His present love to draw and help His people to grow together, anything is possible.
To him alone be all the praise and fame and glory!
"…Everything is possible for Him who believes." (Mark 9:23)
--Pastor Art
PRAYER: Loving God, you have made a space for us here in this world of yours. You give us an opportunity to live, to grow, to receive, to make a difference. Help us to open up some space for others -- in our lives, in our congregation, and in this world of yours which we share together. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 108
My faith here is very strong in this church. I thank the Lord for building this church, and I also thank Him for helping us on our plan for a bigger church and area. I hope this will attract other people and make this a bigger church people-wise.
--David Hunter
PRAYER: God of power, fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we can move beyond the appearance of religion to be true witness of your life within us. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 67
My faith has grown to be the cornerstone of my life. It wasn’t always that way, but trials have pushed me to learn more about Jesus and I am glad I did. As I grow, I find I thirst more and more for closeness and knowledge of God. I have found when you let the Holy Spirit lead, strength and comfort will follow.
I am thankful for Our Saviour Lutheran Church. I feel the love of God here. The Bible studies and encouragement through weekly worship are invaluable. We have two wonderful pastors. I feel grateful for beginning each day reading the Portals of Prayer and accompanying Bible verses.
About fifteen years ago at the end of my first Bible study class, Pastor Art asked for a volunteer to lead the next group with a prayer. My boyfriend, now husband, volunteered me. I was appalled. I had no idea how to write or lead a prayer. He must have known I did. It was clumsy, but I got through it. Now I pray daily and am very comfortable writing and leading prayer. Now I encourage others to do it.
The opportunity for expansion at Our Saviour Lutheran Church is very exciting to me. I believe additional space and activities will help more people to know and grow in Christ. To me, there is nothing more important than that.
--Cindy Bartel-Van Den Elzen
PRAYER: Dear God, as we receive our many blessings from you, help us to share, with willing hearts, with those in our church, our community, and throughout the world. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 36
My faith, this church, and the building fund appeal mean to me that this church will grow as I grow. The church and I grow. God will help with the problems. With the things God has given me—and I have thanked Him—I have faith in Jesus and God for what they have done for me. I believe in what He did to take away our sins and die on the cross. When he died, he rose again after the third day. On Easter day, I will remember what Jesus did for us.
--Samantha McIntyre
PRAYER: Father of all creation, we rejoice that you have promised to be present for us in Christ. May we share your gift of peace, knowledge and love to all those in your creation. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 63
Though I have belonged to this congregation for 45+ years, it’s only been the past few years that I have been a member of this church!
Since becoming more involved in God’s work I have become a stronger Christian and have truly experienced the satisfaction and comfort in giving of one’s self. My faith grows stronger each day.
My church has a warm place in my heart, and its future is important to me.
With God’s love and generosity, Our Saviour Lutheran Church has continued to grow. With this fact in mind we must be committed to provide the facility needed to teach God’s word to our children, grandchildren and future generations.
My Faith! My Church!
--Chuck Officer
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for your unfailing love and faithfulness. Let me draw strength and renewed faith in your promise that you are always with me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 121
My faith, the church, and the building fund appeal mean that I can share the world of God, and that I am able to come to this church. Church is a place to have fun and to learn about God. The building fund is a great idea because it would bring more people to learn about God.
I am thankful for all the things God has given me and others. The idea to build on the church and having different rooms to learn about God is important. It would be good to have more comfort, space, and privacy.
I think to have more people come to the church is good because more people would love God and have faith in God. That’s what my faith is about—to believe in God.
--Kirstin Helebrant
PRAYER: Gentle Shepherd, thank you for your everlasting companionship and for the church where we are nurtured and given guidance to grow in faith and love toward you and all people. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 14
My faith is like always having your very best friend with you, to be accepted for what you are, someone to lean on, rejoice with and trust in.
My church means a lot to me—I’ve come here since a child—attending Sunday and Bible schools, catechism instruction and confirmation, youth group outings, I was married here, attended some adult Bible study here, we’ve baptized three children here, and held my dad’s funeral here. Now my children attend the programs here and I try to stay involved if I can. We enjoy the Praise Service and I still enjoy the traditional service—my husband--brought up Catholic--joined this church. We learn and relate to the weekly sermons. We have family in this church and just a lot of history here.
This program is an opportunity for the Kingdom to grow. I hope it will start new ministries, enabling people to get more involved and participate in new areas.
--Debbie Process
PRAYER: God, draw us close to those with whom we worship, that we may together glorify you. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 96
One day God helped me because he saved my Grandpa. He was mowing the lawn and he almost died. He lost his toe. He had God right by him and he had surgery and he came out fine.
Thank you, God.
--Aaron Alexander
God was with me when I got a broken leg when I was playing football and when I was getting my cast on.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, remind us to appreciate your blessings and to be grateful for what we have. Help us to live each day in the knowledge that through you, we are nourished and energized to do your work in the world. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 88
I have always considered Our Saviour Lutheran Church to be a holy place filled with precious people doing the Lord’s work. The pastors and the members here are my second family who care for me, guide me, forgive me, and continue to teach me about the Lord’s grace and mercy as He carefully unfolds the special and unique plan for my life. Even my fourth grade Sunday school class continues to amaze and enlighten me as I share the love of Jesus with them. I feel especially blessed to know two pastors who demonstrate compassion, honor, devotion, and integrity.
Is it a wonder that our church is growing? It is because of these and other countless blessing that our church needs to expand. We are growing so fast that our building can no longer keep up with all of our activities! Praise the Lord!! Our building appeal means that we are going to be witnessing to teach other and to the community what God does in His people’s lives. He cares for us with His agape love, grace, and endless mercy. During these times of the remodeling of our church, we can look to the cross of Jesus Christ and remember His death and resurrection. Our response is to serve Him with gladness through the building appeal, as we continue to grow as a congregation, while we make room for our future Christian family members.
In the Lord’s service,
--Kelley Gossage
PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for your constant love and for being the light that illuminates all darkness. We thank you also for the hope and strength we find when we trust and believe in your love and forgiveness. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 80
I’ve been coming here for about three years.
The Sunday School lessons have eliminated my fears.
Every time I came we had special prayers,
Just for special people to show that we really care.
Many of the lessons taught us many things,
We talk of His power and love that He can bring.
We read from our Bible to hear what He has to say,
So we can know right from wrong, and love Him every day.
--Kara Bretzman, Fifth Grade
PRAYER: O God our Father, we thank you for the peace, strength and support you give to us as we endeavor to raise our children in accordance with your will. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 26
Thank you, dear Lord, for these parents that are bringing their precious children to our Sunday school and church each week. This is an answer to the teacher’s prayers. But if you attended our Christmas pageant with your children you can plainly see we are bursting at the seams! Because of your faith, the Lord will somehow increase our faith, and make it even stronger. With all of our prayers, may He bless us soon, with more and bigger facilities. There is a trend in our nation to turn to our true God, therefore students are bringing their friends and more family members with them. What an answer to our prayers!
Bless all of you.
Love,
--Norma Teske, Kindergarten Teacher
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help us to remember and give us the faith to trust in your promises, especially the promise of eternal life with you and our heavenly Father, through your death and resurrection. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 81
My faith means a lot to me. It’s helped me through hard times and helped me realize how important life really is. The church also means a lot. The church is a place where I am able to speak of my faith with other people who believe the same things. The building fund appeal seems to be a good idea so more people will come to church and praise God.
--Eric Peterson
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord for knowing our needs and for meeting them. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 82
DO YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS?
Angels are all around us. Angels have protected me for the seventy-five years I’ve been on God’s green earth, and I believe they led me to Green Bay for a reason. I’m sure they were guiding me to work for Our Saviour Lutheran Church—five of the best years of my life where I met the dearest and most wonderful people.
I have dozens of examples of angels in my life. Here is my most memorable:
I never knew his name but he drove a big blue semi-trailer truck. I was coming back from Minneapolis and he was behind me all the way from Wausau. (This was when the highway was still winding, twisting two-lanes!) It rained and rained and rained. Just this side of Shawano the rain turned into a slashing deluge—sheets of grey water blinding me. My wipers were useless. Frightened, I clutched the wheel, my heart pounding. I considered pulling to the shoulder, but in the grey light I couldn’t see the shoulder and I remembered that spinning tires hitting gravel at high speed can be dangerous. I began braking but I couldn’t see the car in front of me—what if there was a car right behind me and it hit me?!
I began to pray, "God, I really need some help here."
That’s when the blue semi pulled into the left hand lane, and then went in front of me! He stayed right there—a barrier from the storm—shielding me with his big blue semi. I breathed a sigh of relief and followed him all the way to Packerland Drive. When he signaled a right turn on Packerland, I slid down my window and gratefully called out, "Thank you!"
My angel acknowledged with a smile and a wave and turned his big blue semi. I don’t know his name, but I do know that when I needed Him, God sent me an angel.
--Adeline Grieser
PRAYER: O God, grant that we may always have faith, for we know that through that faith comes meaning and excitement to our lives to do that which is pleasing to you. Amen.

Reading of the Day: Psalm 51
My faith in Jesus as my Savior means that he is always there for me. He forgives me my many shortcomings and wrongdoings. The two songs, "I Know that My Redeemer Lives," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," are so powerful and meaningful for me. What could possibly be more assuring and comforting than to know Jesus is your friend and Savior.
Our church has been through some major ups and downs. There was a point where our family was considering other churches. But your church family is a hard thing to leave. Besides, families stick together and help one another through the good and bad times.
So here we are joining together as a family to raise funds to enlarge and enhance our church—God’s house. It would be wonderful to have a facility where a meeting could take place or a presentation could be given or another type of class could be held even though Sunday school or confirmation classes are in session. We truly are crowded and more space is a real need.
I’m praying our project will be able to move forward. And in so doing we will glorify His Holy Name. Make a joyful noise all you people!
--Sandy Groth
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, may we be renewed and strengthened in our Christian life. Help us to grow to maturity and live in harmony with you and your will. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 130
I believe that Jesus is my savior. God brought us so much in our lives and it’s hard to thank him for everything.
Church is so much fun to go to. We have a praise band and it’s fun to sing with them. I hope to see more people come to our church and learn the word of God!!
I think it is important to build on to our church, but I do think that it would be a lot of fun too. If we do add on to the church we’ll get more people to come. I don’t think people should come to our church just for the entertainment, but because they want to come, and learn the word of God! To learn everything about Jesus’s life!! So, I hope people come to learn!
--Heather Process
PRAYER: Lord, let me never become complacent in my relationship with you, but let me always thirst and hunger for more of you. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 116
My faith is a warm glow in my heart. It is knowing that I am never alone, even when times in my life make me afraid or depressed. My faith is knowing I can pray and the Lord will hear me and He directs my life. It is the support and love I have from my friends, many of whom I met right here in this congregation. My faith is knowing, when I leave this life, the Lord will be welcoming me home to Him in paradise. Oh, Lord, how great Thou art.
I remember our family joining this congregation in 1955 and attending church in a Quonset hut. I went to Sunday School and confirmation classes in the farm house next to the Quonset, which also served as the parsonage. I remember the excitement when the oldest part of our present facility was built and the pride I felt to be a member of the first confirmation class in the new church in 1960. After college and marriage in this church, we left Green Bay, but returned when our children were 9 and 12 years old. I then became active in education and youth programs. I feel that this is where the future of our congregation lies and we have simply run out of space to do the job that needs to be done.
I grew up in this congregation and have seen it change and grow and be a blessing to our community. I am excited that the Lord continues to bless us and I feel strongly that an updated and expanded building will only increase the blessings. The time is now and with faith and prayers our vision will become a reality.
--Jill Proulx
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for extending your help and direction through those who came before us. Help us to carry on the message of your love and acceptance to all people, both in our church and in the world. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 23
This program helps me have faith in God, and helps me understand God more. My sister fell in the water one time and I asked God to help me have the strength to pull her out. I felt angels all around me help me pull her out.
--Caity Wilhelm
My faith, this church, and this program mean a lot to me. Without this place my life would be empty. I would have nowhere to turn or talk to in time of need. I feel safe in this holy sanctuary.
--Jennifer Oikavince
PRAYER: Holy Spirit, live in us today in power and wisdom so we bring Good News to those in our Village, as well as villages across the land. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 127
One of the main reasons I decided to participate in the fund appeal goes back when I moved into Green Bay and became a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church almost nine years ago.
It is amazing to me, how strong my faith has become over the years.
I believe I have changed into a completely different person by the way I think, reason, and by my actions, which is still a continuous work in progress.
My relationship with God, my family, and this congregation keeps getting stronger. In relationship to the building fund appeal, I see strong and positive growth, both physically and spiritually.
--Walter Juhnke
PRAYER: Open my eyes and my heart, Lord, so that I can see you at work in my world. Let my spirit be sensitive to the happy surprises that come my way, day by day. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 40
The Bad Day
Once upon a time there was a girl named Ramona. She was a very smart girl. This other girl, named Dana, was Ramona’s friend. But one day, when Ramona was starting (and continuously getting) to get one-hundred-percents in Math, Dana started getting jealous of her. At recess, when Ramona was playing tag, she accidentally flung her shoe off and hit Dana in the leg. She said it really hurt.
Ramona said, "I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you."
Dana went and told on Ramona. She was trying to get back at her for getting one-hundreds. Afterwards, Dana said she was sorry for telling on Ramona.
Ramona said, "That’s okay. I’ll forgive you because God forgave us."
Dana said, "Thanks, Ramona. You’re a real pal."
--Ramona Marquardt
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us to focus our eyes on the gifts you give. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 11
What does my faith mean to me? That’s a surprisingly difficult question to answer.
It’s difficult, I guess, in part at least, because my faith is something I take for granted. Oh, it wasn’t always that way. I had my rebellion years (if you could ask my parents, they’d probably tell you I had my rebellion decades). I had my times of questioning, my times of doubting, my times of challenging God to justify the state of this world.
But those times passed. Looking back, I’d say that by the time we’d decided to start a family, I was pretty comfortable in my faith (I was pretty casual in my faith as well, but that’s another story). And by the time the kids actually came along, I’d pretty much grown accustomed to calling myself a Christian.
The thing is, I never really stopped to think what that meant. Not until recently, anyway. And because of that, because I’ve had close to two decades of taking my faith for granted, I’ve never really questioned what it means to me. Rather, I’ve recently been spending my time trying to figure out what I mean to it—what, exactly, does it mean to be a Christian? How do we follow Christ? Is it enough to simply believe—or is more needed?
I guess, if I were to sum it all up briefly in a single statement, I would say that my faith is an acknowledgement that God is out there; that He created me for a purpose; that He loves me enough to suffer and die for me in order to pay my debt; and that, in acknowledging this, I’m also acknowledging that I owe Him more than this. You see, I’m coming to realize that my faith means that I have a debt greater than sin. Jesus died to wash away that debt. But there’s another, larger debt—the debt of love.
God loves me. I know that. I believe that. And knowing that, I can’t just say "Thank you" once in a while, maybe go to church when it’s convenient, and then walk around telling people I’m a Christian. Behavior like that reminds me of the stereotypical teenager: they know their parents love them; they are secure in that knowledge; and that love gives them the confidence to only take the trash out when nagged, to bolt down their meals and run out the door to hang with their friends (though they’re always very conscientious about keeping the grocery list up to date)—in short, to neglect their family because, quite frankly, they can.
I’ve come to realize that I’ve treated God the same way. I’ve not been the prodigal son; I’ve been the teenage son. And it’s time to grow up.
So what is my faith to me? It’s an acknowledgement. It’s an understanding. But most of all, it’s a calling and a challenge.
--Larry Segriff
PRAYER: Loving Father, for your Word, faithfulness, and wisdom in knowing what is best for us, we thank you. Amen.

My Life
God helps me with my life.
I almost died when I was a baby, but I was alive, and a lot of doctors and nurses helped to save my life.
I was born on Christmas Eve, December 24. God has helped me a lot of times in my life.
--Zach, Fifth Grade
PRAYER: Loving God, as we seek to provide support and care for those in need of it, give us the strength, through our faith, to listen to your guidance. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 113
What my faith means to me is that without my faith in Jesus, life wouldn’t have a lot of meaning or purpose. I try to keep Jesus in the center of my life, and when I do, things just seem to work out better.
My church is a very important place for me to get refueled with the word of God, and also a time to share fellowship with other Christians.
We need to continue to teach our young people the world of God and with the limited size of our existing church building it makes it hard to do that. We also need more room in our church parking lot.
--Royal Bruhn
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for teachers and workers in the faith. Guide and direct them to inspire and lead us in bringing your promise of salvation to all people. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 90
I believe that the building fund is a great idea because it will bring more people and I am willing to share the word of God to more people. I want everyone to know what God has done for us and what He has given us. Kids are going to have fun and learn about God at the same time.
I believe that there is nothing more important than God. Even money. People who are rich sometimes forget about God and just think about how much money they have. I am thankful for a nice family to love me. I am also thankful for nature. God has given us lots of things that we are thankful for.
I am so glad that I have a church to go to. I am glad that I have a group to talk to. If I don’t understand something I can talk in a group. It feels nice to share the word of God. The Bible helps me learn more about God. I pray every night and day.
--Danielle Courchaine
PRAYER: God of abundance, we give thanks for the opportunity to give, knowing that matters to you. We come with grateful hearts, praying, "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen."
Reading of the Day: Psalm 110
When no one will listen or you have no place to turn, you can always talk to God. He will help in making decisions in what to do or where to go.
Church is a place to go to share your feelings of God. It helps people share His word through sports and other activities.
--Ray J. Van Den Elzen
PRAYER: Lord, as we endeavor to spread your gospel of love and peace throughout the world, give us the trust to know that it is through you and your church that we can truly accomplish your will. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 19
I think our church should become bigger because our church keeps having more and more people and I feel everyone should be able to come and listen to our pastors talk about faith. Nobody should be left outside because there is not enough room for them inside. God loves everyone. And we should welcome everyone inside to learn about God and Jesus and their faith. Maybe it will touch their hearts in a way no one has so far in their life.
--Nicole Behnke, Fifth Grade
PRAYER: O God, for your beautiful creation, we give you thanks, and ask that you help and guide us as we seek to make our journey in life in accordance with your will. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 8
My faith has grown while I’ve been at Our Saviour Church. I’ve learned to rely more on the Lord when I have problems and I like to think I’ve become a better person because of my relationship with God. I know what faith can do and I want other people to be able to experience what I have.
Our present building is not sufficient to meet our own needs very well, especially in terms of education. So how can we expect to do a good job helping people outside our congregation get to know the Lord? I feel we need more space and updated facilities to help that happen.
--Tom Proulx
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help us decide to allow you to comfort us. Give us the faith to see your deliverance. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 39
I’ve been a member of Our Saviour for approximately eight years and through that time have seen our congregation grow. The enthusiasm and energy that I feel at worship is wonderful. I’m very happy to see so many young people/families being a part of Our Saviour and learning to live in God’s word.
Through this building project I hope we can continue to grow and spread God’s word to many new families and new friends in Christ Jesus.
--Julie Miske
PRAYER: O Lord, help us to trust you to lead us on the right path, even though we do not always understand. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 27
God was with me when my dad’s friend’s twelve-year-old dog died. I wanted her to go because she looked like she was in pain. She had a sore on her leg. She couldn’t walk down stairs. My dog was her son, so when he came over he was confused not to see his mom.
It made me feel sad and happy. It made me feel sad because I miss her. It made me feel happy because she was staying with God.
--Karlee VanLaanen
I think this program will help a lot.
--Nikolas Alexander Sternitzer
PRAYER: Loving Protector, thank you for being with us in our fearful moments. How blessed we are to be able to call on you any time and know that in your love and mercy, you will do what is best for us. Help us to entrust our life to you. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 120
I was saved! Twice!
I came to Our Saviour one day when I wasn’t really sure what Christianity was or even meant. I grew up going to church and was taught about Jesus in school. But, I found myself as a young adult not sure what it meant to be a Christian or if I even needed Jesus in my life.
One day I wandered into Our Saviour Lutheran Church for a service and everything changed. I was taught about Jesus in ways I was never taught before. It became clear what Jesus wants of me and not only do I need Jesus in my life but, more importantly, I wanted Jesus in my life.
I was drifting away from the church and Our Saviour Lutheran Church threw me the lifeline and pulled me back in. I was saved!
The second way I was saved is the day Jesus died for my sins.
Jesus saved me the day he died on the cross to pay the debt for my sins. Because of his great sacrifice I’m a forgiven sinner.
I’m not afraid to die, because I know someday I will be with Jesus in Heaven. This brings peace to my life.
--Mary Luberda
PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father, help us to know that we can come to you and that you will receive us and provide for our needs. Help us to live in the brightness of your Light. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 148
During the last two years at Our Saviour, I have met so many new people. Not only from our church but from other churches around our area through youth programs. I will always remember the winter retreats because we had so much fun and learned about God at the same time. The main reason I like this church is because Pastor Art and Pastor Dave talk so we can actually understand what they are talking about compared to other churches I’ve seen.
Love always,
--Krista Duebner
PRAYER: God, help those around the world who are sharing your gospel today. Help them to remember that as long as they are faithful in the little things, you will see that your purpose is fulfilled. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 46
Our Saviour Lutheran Church is a place I come to for a variety of reasons. I bring my children to learn God’s message and the Lutheran doctrine. I come because I enjoy the sermons from two wonderfully kind and caring pastors who are inspired by God, and yet very much in-tune with the congregations’ needs. I come to OSLC because the adult Christian education program offers a number of interesting classes that can help me with my daily life. But most of all, I come to be closer to God. I admit I feel his presence more when I worship here with others. It is also a routine I need at this very busy time in my life. It forces me to slow down and consider my faith and God’s plan for me.
Obviously, there are many others who have similar feelings because the growth in this congregation has been dramatic. The expansion and remodeling are greatly needed at OSLC. Both for safety and comfort, we need additional space in the sanctuary. We also need space for meeting rooms for all of the activities going on throughout the week. I feel it is a wise investment in our future and a part of God’s plan for us.
--Marlys Brunsting
PRAYER: Eternal God, guide us as we journey through life, secure in the knowledge that you are always watching over us. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 143
My faith is that God does miraculous things and He’s always there with us in life, as long as we put faith in Him. He gave His son because He loved us so much.
Church helps me keep close to God. I learn more about Jesus and His life as He spread God’s word. I hope that in life I’ll remember God’s word as I make decisions.
I think the new building would draw more people to learn about God. It would help us and other classes at our church to have more room because sometimes it’s hard to concentrate when you can hear the class next to you. That way we can have an easier time learning about Jesus and God.
--Brianne Charles
PRAYER: O God, grant us help in all we do, guidance in all our confusion, protection in all our dangers, and joy in the community of faith we share with your people. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 125
Registration for Sunday School
We left home early, we knew it would be a crowded service. When we arrived the parking lot was full. We had to park a block away. By the time we walked into church there wasn’t any room for us to sit together as a family. The pews were all filled. We had to stand in back. We could hardly hear God’s message, not to mention being distracted by the children’s excitement about their first day of Sunday School.
After the service ended we started our way down the crowded stairway to register our children in Sunday School. We finally arrived at the section, in the basement, that would be their class, only to find there wasn’t room enough to accept all that wanted to attend.
--Phyllis
PRAYER: Help us to find gladness in service, Lord. Whatever words we speak, help us use them to build up others. Let our busyness always be about your business. In Jesus= name we pray. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 133
When asked to explain my faith, I’m always at a loss for words; there’s just so much to say. I think of faith as believing in God, and completely devoting your life to His way, and just being wholly devoted to Him in everything you do. I know that if you just believe and try, that everything will come out right in the end, no matter how bad things get.
I look at my relationship with my family as being a gift, and I know that ever since we became more devoted Christians, that it’s a lot easier to put up with each other than it was. I used to be amazingly self-centered, and I was always mad at my parents, but I guess that I realized that there was something bigger out there, and that’s the big picture. That’s what we’re all here for. God has really influenced me in so many ways, and I’ve learned that you just need to stop and smell the roses once in awhile.
The people in this church are so amazing; they’re all very nice people, and they all go to the church because they’re such strong believers. An example of how well they understand it is the story Pastor Art told my Confirmation class: he said that at a church service he asked the "little people" where God was, and the girl he called on started waving her arms and pointing ‘everywhere’. I wish I could’ve seen it! This church is great, and I always feel right at home whenever I come to services and Confirmation class, and when I was younger my parents had to drag me out of the house on Sunday mornings. It’s a great environment, and the people there really know what they’re talking about.
The last thing I’m supposed to explain is my feeling on the building program. To put it simply, I think it’s a wonderful idea. This church is growing so big, that we don’t have enough room for everything, and all of the classes are crammed into a few rooms, so we don’t have enough space for everyone. I think we should definitely go ahead with it. There will be more classrooms, room for everyone at the Praise Service on Sundays, and we can grow more without having to worry about people having to stand outside!
--Megan Segriff
PRAYER: You know each of your sheep, gracious Shepherd, and you call us by name. We belong to you. Help us always to speak and act like the people we are, children of God, that through our witness of faith and life you may be glorified. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 24
My faith is the cornerstone of my life. I would like to think that it embodies all that I do. My life and its purpose would be meaningless without it.
My church is where I go to get away from the stress in my life. I go to church to get my batteries recharged to face another stressful week. The members of my church are members of my extended family. I like the social aspects of my church as well.
This fund drive, for the purpose of adding to our church facilities, means a lot to me. One particular addition I am personally looking forward to is the parlor, a place where I can escape to read a good book or visit with friends over a cup of coffee between services. The parlor is also a place for brides to prepare for that big day in their life. It is also a refuge for family members at a time when they suffer the loss of a loved one at a funeral service.
I can’t wait to add another row of pews in the sanctuary. I get real excited and get a sense of peace when I see our church full of members. However, I would like to see the addition of adequate seating so everyone is comfortable.
If you have ever observed Sunday school or the numerous meetings and classes that take place in the basement, you will realize that we are bursting at the seams. It will be great to have adequate classroom/meeting space for all of our "neat" activities. Finally, we must also be mindful of safety issues when crowds gather in the basement. Remember this is for the children of our church. We all have a responsibility in raising good children with good morals and values. In order to accomplish this with all the temptations, stress, pressure, and evil that exists in our world today, it takes a church in order to succeed.
--Robin Williams
O God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth. Grant that we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 141
My faith means a lot to me. It helps me get through hard times.
This church is very meaningful to me because I was baptized here and I grew up coming here.
--Kimberly Alft
My faith, this church, and this program mean an addition to serve God.
--Kenny A. Pinchart
PRAYER: Almighty and eternal God, your Spirit guides the church and makes it holy. Strengthen and uphold our pastors and our leaders; keep them in health and safety for the good of the church, and help each of us to do faithfully the work to which you have called us. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 9
Free Gift:
Faith—
Unquestioning Belief
Warranty—
Life Everlasting
I must begin with my childhood. God blessed me with loving, Christian parents. As a child I certainly didn’t understand "faith." Through attending Sunday School, church, and confirmation class, my faith lesson began, an understanding of what it means to have Jesus in my life.
There have been numerous times that my faith needed to be strengthened. It is at these times when God’s spirit filled me once again with nourishing faith.
My most important faith lesson came through a Bible class with Pastor Art—faith—unquestioning belief, "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
God has blessed us with a growing family and two inspired teachers.
Just as God has promised us eternal life in Heaven, I pray that we will make room for His family in His house here on earth.
Faithfully,
--Phyllis
PRAYER: O God, by your Holy Spirit you have made us one with your saints in heaven and on earth. Grant that we may always be supported by this fellowship of love and prayer, and know ourselves to be surrounded by their witness to your power and mercy. Amen.

Reading of the Day: Psalm 1
I think the new additions will be good, especially for the kids. The youth groups really need a new meeting area. We all have to find a corner in the church, which can be really uncomfortable. Also, the classrooms are too close together, and the walls in the classrooms don’t shut all the way, so you kind get distracted.
--Aaron Chamberlain
It will be so much easier to learn about God if we have a new place.
I love this church.

PRAYER: Gracious Lord, we thank you for the blessings we receive through the church and from our families. Help us honor, support, and cherish it, for we know that Christ loves the church and gave himself for it. We ask this in his holy name. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 139
When a seed is planted in rich black soil, when it’s watered and given sunlight, we expect it to grow. That is happening here. What Christ has done for me, in planting that seed at Baptism, is the center of my universe. He waters that growing tree here at OSLC. This is family. This is home. This is the rich black soil he has me rooting at.
A building program is new territory for me, but not for God. He is why seeds become trees.
God bless us all.
--Pastor Dave
PRAYER: Sanctify our homes and church with your presence and joy. Keep our children in the covenant of their Baptism and enable their parents to rear them in a life of faith and devotion. Amen.

PRAYER: O God, help us to grow in our faith, and help us to grasp more fully the mystery of your Being, so that we might become true witnesses of your love in the sight of all people. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 34
I grew up in this church and as a young child learned to know Jesus through our Sunday School program. After being away for a short time, I returned to this place for worship and Christian learning. Once I became involved again, the fire was lit and this place became like a second home. I have found wonderful friends, fellowship, and a strong faith. I truly don’t understand how one can live without it.
There is nurturing here and food for the soul. There are people who care about you both inside and out. This place is God’s place and it has been awesome to watch it flourish right before your eyes.
As I said, I learned about Jesus in Sunday School in a house next to the Quonset hut. Then we moved to the Quonset and church basement when the new church was built. Then we added the new school portion and offices. It would be so wonderful to have real classrooms for Sunday School, Confirmation, and Adult Bible Study.
We are in an exciting time at this place. I feel honored to work here. I thank God for that and for all His people who work so hard in "this place."
--Terry Brosig
PRAYER: O God, draw our hearts to you, guide our minds, and fill our imaginations so that we may be wholly yours. Use us as you will, always to your glory and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 72
This faith means a lot to me because it explains what God did.
This church does a lot for everybody in the community. This is the church that I got baptized at. I grew up going to this church.
I think it would be great to make this building bigger. It would bring more people to this church. It would teach more people about God.
--Derek Tilkens
PRAYER: Lord God, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children. As we bring them up, give us calm strength and patient wisdom, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. We bring them to your Church, trusting in your guidance as they grow in faith and love toward you. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 73
My faith is a gift from God, with the seed planted in me at baptism.
Through additional gifts from Him, like parents, family, friends and church, combined with The Word, that gift of faith has grown in strength and maturity.
My gift to God is to allow Him to use me to nurture and enrich the faith lives of my family, and the youth and families of Our Saviour, so that we might continue in growth together.
--Mark Engelhardt

Dear God,
Thank you for letting me be in a church that is constantly growing and to know that I am part of this church is a blessing. Every day I come to church and it is a blast listening to the Praise Band and coming down to Sunday school.
I thank you God.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for letting my cousin Travis live through his cancer and letting him be cancer-free. Thank you also for not letting him get hurt when he flipped his van.
--Andrew Hopkins
Dear God,
I’m just writing to say thank you for giving me life, love, and faith in you. I appreciate everything you’ve given me. Every day I receive more and more, whether I deserve it or not. You give and you take, but only what belongs to you, and I look up to you for that, and love you for that also.
--Love,
--Alyssa Doubeck
PRAYER: Lord, we can’t do it by ourselves. We can’t take on wonderful opportunities like this without Your help. We admit we need You and recognize our vulnerability -- lack of trust and lack of commitment. Let a great peace come over us as we "receive" and "trust" You, Lord, to give us wisdom and strength to deal with this challenge of building a better place for our congregation, and especially the children and youth of our congregation. Let it be so. Amen.
Reading of the Day: Psalm 150
Picture a world without a beautiful sunrise and sunset, an empty room, loneliness, cold, desperation, searching but never finding—a futile life. To me, that is a world that exists when God’s love, His grace, faith, and Christian fellowship are not present in our lives.
God, working through our church and its leaders, strengthens our faith, bringing beauty, fulfillment, fellowship, warmth, hope, love, purpose, forgiveness, and the promise of everlasting life.
Thank you, God, for Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
May God continue to bless us and grow in our faith.
--Dave Leonhardt
PRAYER: Dear Lord, may we praise you for your might works: the beautiful sunrises, sunsets, fellowship, and love. We praise you for your unequalled greatness. Grant that we always praise you in everything. Amen.

A Litany of Thanks and Praise
Oh Lord, I thank and praise you for all of your mighty deeds!!! I thank you for the joy and happiness you have given me through the works of your almighty hand – the wonders and beauty of your creation, the love and acceptance of my family and friends – your people, and the love and forgiveness given to me through the death of your son, Jesus.
When called to witness, thank you for showing me how and giving me the means to do it.
When faced with anguish and despair, thank you for showing me your love and support through family and friends and for guiding me to materials that brought me closer to you.
When confronted with evil, thank you for your calmness and steadfast support.
When facing sorrow, thank you for your comfort and reassurance of your love.
Lord, you are truly an awesome God – filled with wisdom, power, and love!!!!
I thank and praise you for all of your mighty deeds!!!!!
Your servant,
--Gloria Morgan
PRAYER: Loving God, thank you and praises to you for all your mighty deeds. Thank you for your compassion and never-ending love. Each new day, help bring praises and glory to your son, Jesus. Amen.
Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that we may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and
it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
—St. Francis of Assisi—
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
who satisfies you with good as long as you live
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
But the steadfast love of the Lord is
from everlasting to everlasting
upon those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.
Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
hearkening to the voice of his word!
Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers that do his will!
Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!
